a lot has happened…

A lot has happened since I last posted. But to be clear on my stance on things: Black Lives Matter. The COVID-19 pandemic is real; wear a mask and social distance. Embrace neurodiversity. Equal rights for all.

Texas is going through a lot right now due to the widespread power outages and water disruptions caused by severe weather. Please consider donating if you are able: Feeding Texas

I’ve decided that this blog will be a good place to keep loose track of some small changes I would like to make this year, starting with clothing and accessories:
– Reducing purchases overall;
– When I do need to buy something, investing in higher-quality, which in turn I hope will mean buying fewer, longer-lasting items;
– Shopping ethical / sustainable companies;
– Buying from resale websites (e.g., Poshmark, ThredUp);
– Repairing and mending when possible.

Regarding my crafting habits (weaving, crocheting, knitting), I am committed to not purchasing any more yarn without a specific goal in mind. Too often I have purchased yarn that I just *had* to have because I thought it would be fun to use. At the beginning of 2020, I developed numbness and tingling in my hands and elbow pain that I could only figure was due to overuse. I spent most of 2020 recovering from that (i.e., no yarn crafts), but I have a large, ridiculous yarn stash waiting for me now that I am mostly better. Zero reason to even step a virtual foot in an online yarn shop.

I’ll check back soon. Take care.

warped (and wefted)

Oh, hey.  Remember that one time THREE MONTHS ago when I said I was going to start a little weekly art sharing?

I’d like to share my latest curiosity-turned-obsession as of last month:  lap loom weaving.  Been having the most fun time with it.  DIY’d a nail loom via this video tutorial.
